It is very easy to sign up to Acorn Dash, to get your own private dashboard. All you need to do is visit the form at www.acorndash.com/create and enter your name, email address (these will be used to contact you and create your user account), company name (this will be used to brand the Acorn Dash pages) and choose a site prefix – this is the short name that will be prepended to the Acorn Dash domain to make your dashboard unique, safe and secure. So for example if your company name is “ABC Parts Supplies” you might pick “abcparts” as your prefix. Our only stipulation is that (like gmail account names) the domain prefix has to be unique within Acorn Dash – if you pick one that somebody else has chosen you will be prompted to pick again.
Once you have specified your four basic account details our squirrel Dash and his other little helper pals rush over to the cloud servers and create an Acorn Dash dashboard with its own private data store that is secured and specific to your company. You’ll see this message:
The next step is to check your email inbox. You will have received an invitation to complete your registration (this lets you specify a password and ensures that we have a working email address for you).
Just click on the “Set Password” link and you’ll be taken to the “Create New Password” page on the Acorn Dash website. We require that you specify a strong password here – we will reject poor ones. Using a password manager such as KeePass, LastPass or the built-in functions in Google Chrome is highly recommended:
For example, if you use Google Chrome then you can just right-click and choose “Suggest Password” – Chrome will suggest a strong password and record it in your personal account. It will then fill in your password automatically in the future.
You will now be logged in to Acorn Dash where you will see a couple of sample entries. For more details see the document “Using Acorn Dash – Quick Start”.
